Physical well-being as well as mental well-being is vital to our survival and lives. I am constantly reminded in the press and by my friends and family of the importance of self-care. Counselling represents a holistic approach to our success and it is during the therapeutic experience that we can permit ourselves examination of our whole journey. Health and well-being are inextricably linked. The concept of a healthy mind and a healthy body can be seen as the cornerstone of long life.
When we become ill, health takes over everything. All other problems fade into insignificance by comparison. Discussing health with our counsellors can open up very positive avenues for discussion and can help to reveal underlying issues which otherwise would not rise to the surface.
I am currently undertaking two excellent add-on courses, one is helping with undiagnosed ADHD in the workplace and one is specialist counselling for those affected either directly or indirectly with cancer. I have recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer and feel that this part of my life will offer others the chance to speak to someone “in the same boat”.
Sessions will soon be available for both these fields.
